I am Filippo Matera,the owner and founder of Naked Clothing since 1995.
I realized in the early nineties that there had been a monumental shift in the menswear landscape towards the informal and,as a result,
I saw space for a brand like Naked Clothing to exist.
I wanted to produce casual shirts and then move forward and apply the same techniques to other materials such as jersey,piquet and denim.
My brand became known for taking stone-washing techniques traditionally used in making denim trousers and applying them to casual and polo shirting.
As the brand developed,so did my mastery of washing techniques.Indeed,a Naked Clothing cotton polo possesses the kind of supple and opulent handle one might expect from pure cashmere,much less cotton jersey.
My factory is based in Andria,in southern Italy,where is also the home for many big players in the fashion industry,who seek out the region's expertise in the production of fine shirting.
I am proud to say that I was the first maker of the sartorial polo,entering the world of luxury.
I use two primary colours to create my shirts:white-ecru,which is then dyed,and indigo blue,which is then treated to get different shades.
Then,to give the shirts their imperial softness,I put them through the 'enoblement stage',using silicone and natural softeners which give the cashmere-like effect to the cloth.
The enzyme that I use protects from peeling and the whole process ensures that a Naked Clothing garment will last for a long time and in a perfect state.
The variety of products is always enlarged,including polo shirts,T-shirts,long sleeve polo shirts,regular shirts with different types of collar.Also jackets,shirt jackets,jogging pants and more in a variety of fabrics and colours.
My intention is to transform casual chic into every day's luxury and I have arrived to this point,by creating superb cashmere garments with a unique feeling,perfect fitting and extremely bright and clear colours.

I make polo shirts in denim first. But special ones. I treat my denim so it is as soft as silk. But not only,I wanted to make polo shirts inspired by Gianni Agnelli when he was in Capri so i did apply the same techniques to other materials such as jersey, piquet, fleece, corduroy, linen, popeline, all the fabrics which contain the cotton with a bit of elastan .I became a true master when it comes to washing and dyeing techniques traditionally used in jeans making and applying them to casual and polo shirting. Instead know also that the average life of my cotton line thanks to all these special treatments and « savoir faire » is ... 6 years.
